Why does your pool need maintenance in winter?

Many pool owners forget about their pool once the cover goes on. However, temperatures are almost impossible to predict. Warmer fall months can cause winter chemicals to dissipate quicker. Rainy and snowy winters can cause pools to increase in water level. Warmer spring months can cause algae to grow quickly. Also, recently completed or replaced still curing plaster requires close watch and water balancing.

Blow debris/leaves from cover & pool deck
Check water level & pump down as necessary
Test and balance pH, carbonate alkalinity, and calcium hardness - water will be agitated to disperse chemicals as evenly as possible
Add liquid chlorine and/or algaecide as needed
Inspect pool cover, anchors, straps, springs and water bags and replace any needed items at corresponding cost per item
Check for rodents in heater
Basic visual inspection of equipment
Advise of necessary repairs
